Christian Dior Brand Profile

Christian Dior was born in France on January 21st, 1905, and was a man renowned for his inspiriation. Coming from a household that dealt with producing chemical substances and fertilizers, he streamed right in the opposite route but quite effectively producing a identify for himself within the fashion fraternity which conferred him a lot of accolades for his imaginative approach of dealing with clothing. He was a master of his trade leaving no loose ends to grumble about. While his approach was poles apart from the typical, it was this uniqueness that gave him an impetus to make his concepts viable worldwide. He had brought with his designs a revolution in women's clothing once again making Paris as a centre of the fashion business.

Christian Dior was an influential style designer and the originator of the Doir Empire. He attended the Ecole des Sciences Politiques to comply with his parent's desires. Although his parents wished that he would develop into a diplomat, much to their surprise their child was more involved in art rather than being a diplomat. To make money he used to trade his fashion sketches at ten cents each. He opened a tiny art gallery in 1928 from the capital he received from his father. However owing to the family's financial misfortune he was required to shut his gallery and worked along side Robert Piguet who later joined the fashion house where he and Pierre Balmain were the key designers. In 1945 he went into business for himself, backed by Marcel Boussac, the cotton-fabric magnate. He opened his own fashion house in 1946 and showed his opening collection by the name "Corolle" which popularly acquired the name New Look. Celebrated for the sensual appearance given to his clothes, he was a master at creating shapes and silhouettes. He passed away on October 23rd, 1957.

After his first design, which had already ensured his place in the worldwide community of fashion, his later creations also made a considerable effect on the ramp. The H-line in 1954 and the A-line in 1955 became as fashionable as the first one and people started to look upto him as a source of inspiration. The enterprise expanded not only in terms of shops but also ventured into additional forums. Upon his decease his business was managed by his grand daughter who made the company accomplish new heights. Some of the awards received by the company include:

The brand which initially excelled in apparels extended its reach to ready-to-wear, leather-based merchandise, footwear, watches, fragrances, cosmetics, ties plus additional accessories. The brand also comprises of Baby Dior products. The Dior tradition of dealing with exquisite fabric led to the creation of international merchandising labels for gloves, furs, and jewellery. Dior flagship boutiques are open in Paris, London, Milan, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Honolulu, Las Vegas, and San Francisco, Seoul, Madrid, Miami, Barcelona, New Delhi, and Shanghai.
